Caution – Identity Theft – Caution

Identity Theft – a crime in which someone wrongfully obtains and uses another person’s personal data for economic gain – is on the rise!  If you become a victim of identity theft do the following immediately:

1. Call the police department and file a report.

2. Contact one of the Credit Bureaus – Experian, Equifax or Trans Union – to note your credit file to fraud alert.

3. Call ALL your credit card companies.

4. Call ALL the financial institutions you bank with.

5. File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

Always be careful with all your personal information especially your social security number.
