Tax Filing Deadline Extension
On March 29, 2021 the IRS announced that individuals now have until May 17 to meet certain deadlines that would normally fall on April 15.
You now have until May 17 to make contributions to your Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) for the tax year of 2020. As a result of the extension your Form 5498 which displays your annual contributions will be delayed until June. Fraud & Scam Prevention
Here are a few tips to help avoid falling for the more common scams:
Never provide your account number, social security number, PIN number, or any personal identifying information to anyone that calls you over the phone or requests it by email.
Never give anyone access to control your computer, even if they claim they are from a legitimate business such as Microsoft or your internet provider.
If you receive calls, emails, or other communications claiming to be from the Treasury Department and offering COVID-19 related grants or stimulus payments in exchange for personal financial information, or an advance fee, or charge of any kind, including the purchase of gift cards, please do not respond. These are scams.
